A St. Catharines man is going to try to break a world record...while dressed as grapes?
Rob Lapensee hopes to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon while dressed as fruit as he competes at the Niagara Falls International Marathon on October 15th.
"I'm excited a Guinness World Record is even within reach for me, even if it requires a silly costume," Lapensee said via a release. "I think dressing up as grapes for the race gives my record attempt a distinct Niagara flavour."
During his run, Lapensee hopes to raise awareness for Fit It Forward, a program providing running shoes to children through Community Care, Project Share, and Education Foundation of Niagara.
The current record holder is Thomas Priest from the UK - he completed a half marathon in 01:20:37, all while dressed as a banana.
