A 23 year old St. Catharines man is facing an attempted murder charge following a domestic dispute yesterday morning in St. Catharines.
The NRP's Emergency Task Unit and Crisis Negotiators were called in after reports of a disturbance at a home in the area of Westland Street and Pelham Road.
Upon arrival officers found a 59 year old woman and a 21 year old woman both suffering injuries from an assault.
Further investigation revealed a 23 year old man had barricaded himself inside the home armed with weapons.
After more than 6 hours of negotiations, the man was finally arrested.
Both victims in the attack were transported to hospital where one remains with serious injuries.
The suspect, isn't being named to protect the identity of the victims involved.
He's charged with attempted murder, assault causing bodily harm, 2 counts of uttering threats, two counts of assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon.
He was to appear in court today.
A police presence remained at the residence today as detectives forensically process the residence.
