The Mayor of St. Catharines thinks Niagara should have had a mandatory mask policy in place when we moved into stage two of the reopening phase.
Walter Sendzik joined CKTB's Tom McConnell questioning why the Medical Officer of Health didn't make the call earlier.
He says there was a lack of seeing a need of having masks mandated when in public indoor spaces - such as retail stores.
Sendzik says the decision could have been temporary and revisited much like the state of emergency.
He is still hoping the call will be made.
Sendzik says Niagara is a tourism destination, and asks 'what's to prevent a visitor from coming to Niagara and spreading the virus here?'
