A movie theatre in St. Catharines is preparing to reopen to movie fans, but says the government needs to meet them half way.
Theatres can reopen in Stage 3, but the Pen Centre location remains closed for now as they are only able to host 50 people inside their entire facility.
CEO of Landmark Cinemas Bill Walker tells CKTB it doesn't make financial sense to reopen with a maximum of 50 people.
Landmark and other movie theatres are asking for an amendment to allow at least 50 guests per theatre, instead of entire facility.
Walker is hoping to hear back on their proposal soon.
He says once they reopen they will be distancing guests with reserved seating, reduced capacity, and masks will be mandatory until you are seated.
The are 10 screens at the Pen Centre location and up to 60 part-time employees have been laid off since theatres closed in March.
