St. Catharines Liberal MP Chris Bittle is grabbing international headlines after advocating for Tim Raines' hall of fame bid during Parliament.
Bittle, the first term MP, used his time in Parliament Wednesday to make the case the former Montreal Expos outfielder and 7 time all star should be enshrined in baseball's hall of fame.
Bittle cited Raines' career stats, and compared him to other players already in the Hall to make his argument.
Raines, who is in his tenth and final year of eligibility for the Hall of Fame, appreciated the gesture tweeting he was "very honoured and deeply humbled" by Bittle's gesture and thanked him and Canada for their support.
