St.Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens says it's a shame Doug Ford cancelled the Queen's Park Canada Day party.
The government says attendance is declining for the decades-old tradition that costs 400-thousand dollars -- so it will instead offer free attendance to the first 500 visitors at 10 attractions across the province on Canada Day, including to the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls.
New Democrat critic Stevens says it's too bad Ford doesn't see the value in celebrating our nation.
She thinks Ford is worried about getting booed again as he was at the Toronto Raptors victory celebrations last week.
Interim Liberal Leader John Fraser adds the cancellation just a week before the July 1st holiday is not right.
