The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is offering special sensory-friendly programming.
On the first Tuesday of every month staff at the museum will be altering the lighting and reducing sound between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to create a more inclusive environment.
Sensory-friendly activities will be available during that time, such as a self-directed play zone filled with tactile toys and a quiet zone with blankets and large stuffed animals.
The museum is also offering a backpack at the front desk with a variety of toys, communication flash cards, and noise cancelling headphones for anyone with sensory concerns.
Admission to the Sensory-Friendly Sunsets program is by donation and pre-registration is not necessary.
The program will take place this afternoon.
