St.Catharines overdose prevention site is waiting anxiously for promised provincial funding.
Glen Walker from Positive Living Niagara says the site, which has been operating since April, has not received funding from the Ontario government.
He says they have been using their own resources from their own reserves.
Walker says 100 percent of the funding to run the clinic comes from the Ontario government.
Its costs one million dollars a year to run the St.Cathairnes clinic which operates 12 hours a day.
He's waiting optimistically for some good news soon.
Walker says he's not hitting the panic button just yet, but they will feel financially stressed soon.
The new permanent site based in the Queenston Street neighbourhood opened in April.
The PC Ford government committed to funding 15 overdose prevention sites across Ontario to help deal with the opioid crisis.
20-50 people used the overdose prevention site in St.Catharines each day, and it's believed the site has saved a number of lives.
