Residents of St. Catharines who have been dreading taking back an overdue library book can have their fee waived if they bring in a donation for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.
From November 13th until the 30th patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the circulation desk at any library location to pay back up to $50 in library fines.
One donated item equates to $5 in fees.
Library officials ask anyone who wants to take part in the program to check out Community Care's most needed items list, and make sure the food you donate is healthy and nutritious.
This campaign does not apply to replacement costs for damaged or lost items, or collection agency fees.
