St. Catharines residents can now apply for some financial help to deal with the rat problem.

The City is rolling out a pilot rebate program for 2018 that will cover 50% of the cost to remove rats from the exterior of a property, up to a maximum of $200.

Pest control companies must be licensed to assist with the removal of rats from the outside of a residential property.

Businesses are not eligible for the rebate.

The first step in the rebate process is for residents to contact the City and have a by law enforcement officer inspect the outside of their home.
