Around 450 people gathered in Port Dalhousie to carry on Terry Fox's legacy.
Terry Fox Run Organizer Michelle Dearborn says they were able to raise about $50,000 yesterday to fund cancer research.
"Brock has received $750,000 in the last few years to fund research, but it's the original crowd funding. Terry Fox pioneered that! So it's really great that it's going to go to any research opportunity nationally that looks promising. Which, today a lot of people are sceptical of research that's funded by pharmaceutical companies so this is the real deal - it's what scientists really believe is promising without any of those corporate ties. So definitely lots of it staying locally at Brock. But you can rest easy - one of the main reasons I love supporting the Terry Fox Run is because it's going somewhere great."
St. Catharines was part of a friendly fundraising challenge between Barrie and Guelph - we're still waiting on results from the other two cities to see who came out on top.
