The city of St. Catharines is hiring an independent third party firm to review outstanding issues between the Niagara Icedogs and the operators of the Meridian Centre.
In a release, Mayor Walter Sendzik says during a meeting with the team's owners Bill and Denise Burke, regarding their decision to cancel a $1 million donation, to the city, the Burke's expressed their concerns about the licensing agreement they have with the arena.
On Monday night council directed staff to hire a firm to investigate the complaint.
Sendizk says the IceDogs are important to the city and he is confident the outstanding issues can be resolved.
The Mayor also hopes through the review, they will ensure the operation of the Meridian Centre remains sustainable and an economic driver for the city.
