St. Catharines will not be hosting the 2020 Brier.
The City losing out on its bid to host the men's national championship.
Curling Canada is expected to officially announce that Kingston will host the event on Thursday.
Bid Committe Chair Doug Geddie says "We are extremely discouraged."
He adds, "Our expectations were high."
Moncton and Prince George were also in the running for the event.
Geddie goes on to say "It's time for us to take a step back and review what we know and look at upcoming schedules for different events."
There were over 500 people who placed deposits down on tickets. Everyone who put down the $10 will be refunded.
