For the 25 remaining members of St. George's Anglican Church, it is the end of their tightly knit congregation.
The Niagara on the Lake church, founded in 1961, held its last service yesterday.
The church was forced to close after the St. Lawrence Seaway, which owns the land, ended its lease.
The small congregation could not afford to buy the scenic propertysurrounded by vineyards with the Garden City Skyway serving as a backdrop.
Members will move to Christ Church in the old town.
