Starbucks is bidding goodbye to plastic straws.
Instead the company is adopting a strawless lid or an alternative-material straw. Officials with the coffee chain say the move should eliminate more than one billion plastic straws per year from Starbucks stores around the world.
The alternative straws will be available for Frappuccinos and by request for other drinks. The straws will be made from materials like paper or compostable plastic.
Customers in Seattle and Vancouver will be the first to see the strawless lids.
