A state of emergency has been declared for the American city of Lackawanna following a massive fire.
The Mayor of the city (Geoff Szymanski) posting an update on social media saying that he is declaring a State of Emergency for the city of Lackawanna and Bethlehem Park residents are to be evacuated from their homes.
Emergency shelters are being opened up at the Senior Center or the High School.
Due to a change in wind direction, Erie County health officials are ordering evacuations north of the Bethlehem fire scene based on test results of particulate matter and smoke plume.
Residents affected are being notified by door to door and reverse 911.
The massive blaze at a former steel mill site outside Buffalo broke out yesterday.
No injuries have been reported.
