Unlike Mohawk College, which cancelled its convocation ceremonies because of the strike by faculty, Niagara College will go ahead with its grad ceremonies this week.
The union representing faculty sending out a notice to members advising teachers to not participate in any convocation activies on Friday and that crossing the line to attend the event constitutes strike breaking and can result in fines being levied.
As well, all striking teachers are asked to gather at the Welland campus Friday from 8 am to 11 am as attendees arrive for the ceremony.
OPSEU Local 242, says in an email, this will not be a picket, no signs will be carried and traffic will not be impeded, instead teachers will stand in silent protest.
