Municipalities are breathing a sigh of relief.
The province has done an about face and will not allow post secondary students to opt out of paying transit fees which cover the cost of a bus pass.
Last month, the Ford government announced a 10 percent tuition cut and also said it would allow students to opt out of paying ancillary fees which included transit.
But after hearing from muncipalities and student groups the government said on Friday, students will still have to pay for a bus pass as part of their fee package.
They also will not be allowed to opt out of any fees supporting health, wellness or mental health.
