Since the beginning of the pandemic, B.C. health officials have urged everyone to stay home if they are even the slightest bit sick.
But that advice has changed for students.
The province's health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has announced a new checklist for parents to go over every day before they send their kids to school.
A number of symptoms are off the list; runny nose, sore throat, headache, fatique or body aches.
The revised checklist says kids should stay home if they have fever, chills, a cough or shortness of breath, loss of the sense of taste or smell, or diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
Henry says “We know children often have very mild symptoms, runny nose, not feeling well today, that clear up very quickly and are not indicative of COVID.”
