Niagara officers have made an arrest after an investigation of a stolen Yves Saint Laurent purse.
On Sunday October 15th, Niagara officers responded to a call about a car theft at a home in the area of First Street Louth near Third Avenue Louth in St. Catharines.
One of the items that was taken was a $3,500 Yves Saint Laurent purse that had an authenticity tag with a serial number.
Nine days later, a Yves Saint Laurent purse was listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $1,400.
The seller posted images that included the serial number that matched the purse that was stolen.
On October 26th, the suspect agreed to sell the purse to undercover detectives in a parking lot on Queen Street in the Falls.
When he arrived with the stolen purse, he was placed under arrest.
39-year-old James Roger McGowan of Niagara Falls has been arrested and is facing multiple charges.
Detectives have since returned the stolen purse to its rightful owner.
