A 20 year old man charged in connection with the shooting death of a 19 year old Good Samaritan in Hamilton has been released from custody after spending more than nine months behind bars.
James Matheson was originally charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder in the December 2017 fatal shooting of Yosif Al Hasnawi, the Brock University student shot and killed while trying to help an older man.
That charge was withdrawn yesterday in a Hamilton court.
Matheson now faces a sole charge of obstruction of justice.
Dale Burningsky King is charged with second degree murder.
Two Hamilton paramedics are also facing a charge of failing to provide the necessaries of life.
