The Chair of the Niagara Region telling CKTB's Roundtable this morning, he has heard from a Swiss investor interested in bringing a pro soccer team to our area.
We asked Alan Caslin where the team would play?
Caslin says there is the potential to build a multi use stadium in conjunction with the upcoming Canada Games which Niagara will host in 2021
Caslin says the stadium would support a Brock University football team as well as the school's track and field program.
He points out with the games comes legacy projects, noting Red Deer, Alberta raised $88 million to build a new stadium that will be ready when the city hosts the games two years from now.
The Chair cautions the proposal to bring pro soccer is in its infancy but adds there is an opportunity to explore all the options to see if it is possible.
Caslin says its too early to identify the investor.
