Parents of students at Power Glen Public School in St.Cathairnes will be getting a letter tonight advising them that a teacher at the school is facing drug charges.
The District School Board of Niagara's Brett Sweeney tells CKTB that a grade 2 teacher, 45 year old Jill Cicci will not be returning to work pending the outcome of the legal process and an DSBN internal investigation.
On Thursday February 16th, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Morality Unit concluded a drug investigation and executed three search warrants.
The warrants were executed at two homes and one vehicle in Niagara Falls.
As a result of the investigation police seized a quantity of cocaine, items used in the trafficking of controlled substances and currency.
58 year old Milan Todorovic of Niagara Falls is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Crime.
Cicci, also from Niagara Falls is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Both were released from custody with a future court date to answer to these allegations.
Sweeney says the school is committed to ensuring that all students' educational needs will continue to be met.
