Teachers union calls for removal of Sir John A. Macdonalds name from schools in Ontario

An Ontario teachers' union says Sir John A. Macdonald was the "architect of genocide against Indigenous Peoples."

And the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario is calling for the name of the country's first prime minister to be removed from schools in the province.

Macdonald was in office when the federal government approved the country's first residential schools.
