Niagara police are looking a male suspect in a shooting around 1:40 a.m. this morning in the area of St. Paul Street and Queen Street in downtown St. Catharines.
A 24-year-old male was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries before being transported to an out-of-town hospital.
Detectives with Major Crime and the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) are continuing to actively investigate this incident.
The suspect was last seen fleeing westbound in the area of St. Paul and Ontario Street.
He is described as a male in his early 20's, black with a slender build, wearing a dark blue hooded athletic track suit with a solid white strip down the side of the jacket and pants.
The area has since reopened to traffic.
