The head of the Niagara Police Services Board wants the Parks Commission to post no drone signs around the falls.
Bob Gale telling board members yesterday, it was brought to his attention that a drone was recently spotted flying over the falls and the sighting prompted several questions.
Gale says first and foremost, if a resident spots a drone who do they call to report it?
The board chair says there is also the issue of whether the drone is carrying contraband goods across the border.
Police Chief Jeff McGuire noting the area around the falls is designated a restricted airspace.
McGuire says Transport Canada is writing new rules governing the use of drones and those rules are expected sometime next year.
The Chief adds anyone who spots a suspicious drone can contact police.
