Once again, Niagara Regional Council has put off a vote on whether to allow dual duty councillors in St. Catharines.
In a 14-13 vote, council last night deferred the discussion after complaints from a local resident.
George Darte expressing concern a public meeting on the issue held last month, was not an official one and did not allow for enough debate from those in attendance.
Darte appeared before council in September before a vote on the issue and successfully won a deferral because he said a public meeting was needed.
The city of St. Catharines then scheduled the October 20th meeting at the Performing Arts Centre.
But once again Darte was unhappy with the outcome saying he did not feel it met with the requirements under the Ontario Municipal Act.
The dual duty model would see six St. Catharines councillors serve on both municipal and regional council.
