A night of deflections went the way of the visitors as the IceDogs fell 6-3 to visiting Owen Sound. In the 'Dogs first game in a 6 game in 9 days stretch, the home side was unable to hold a third period one goal lead.
Stephen Dhillon stopped all 7 Owen Sound shots in the first, with the only goal knocked behind the big goaltender off a team mate's stick. The IceDogs were held off the scoresheeet on 11 shots on goal.
Period two was a reversal of fortunes with Billy Burke's team notching 11 of the 19 shots. Johnny Corneil's strong board work lead to a snap shot goal off the stick of Matt Philip. His 14th of the year at 11:56 sent the two teams off the ice even at one after forty minutes.
In the decisive third, Akil Thomas redirected home a Justin MacPherson point shot at 4:20 to give the IceDogs a one goal lead. Three goals in a 3:12 span, in a period where the Attack fired 22 shots, were too much to overcome. An Owen Sound empty netter with 99 seconds left was offset by Adrian Carbonara's first in Niagara with under 18 seconds left. It was a ricochet off the big winger on a right wing shot by Oliver Castleman with Ian Martin collecting a point as well. One more from the visitors on a scramble in the final few ticks made the final 6-3 in favour of the Attack. The final shot count was 41-33, with the edge going to Owen Sound.
