An end of an era in Thorold.
The old paper mill on Allanburg Road is coming down.
The mill was built in 1915 by the Beaver Wood Fibre Company and was later bought out by Georgia Pacific.
The plant was finally mothballed in 2014.
Now its slated for demolition which means the company will pay about $75,000 less a year in property taxes, a move that could impact the city come budget time.
