The Niagara Region Public Works Department is assuaging some residents' fears of contaminated material emanating from work at Thorold Stone Road.
Social media was abuzz with concerns about contaminated material filtering into water systems according to Post Media.
Commissioner of Public Works Ron Tripp says those fears are unfounded and the site is undergoing rigorous analysis to ensure contaminated material is handled appropriately.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change went out to the site after calls about surface water discharged into a sewer, but they found everything fell within bylaw requirements.
