Thorold voters have chosen Terry Ugulini to be their new mayor.
Ugulini beat out Henry D'Angela for the job with 65% of the votes.
Previous Mayor Ted Luciani did not run again, choosing instead to run for regional council.
Ugulini was born and raised in Thorold, and has been a Thorold councillor since 2014.
He says 22 years of experience as the President Business Manager of IBEW: Local 914 and he is familiar with working with various levels of government.
As mayor, he says he wants to develop new plans for Transportation as well as Parks, Trails, and Recreation.
In an interview with 610CKTB, Ugulini says his top three priorities include economic development, affordable housing, value for the taxpayer.
Thorold's city council is made up of 8 councillors.
Anthony Longo, Carmen DeRose, Jim Handley, Fred Neale, Victoria Wilson, Ken Sentance, John Kenny, and Nella Dekker (D'Epiro) will make up the council.
Besides the mayor, Thorold elects one regional councillor.
Tim Whalen won over now-former mayor Ted Luciani with 60% of the votes.
