Campaign divisions appear to be widening as thousands of people took to the streets across America last night to protest the election of Donald Trump.
Flames lit up the sky in California as thousands of protesters burned a giant papier-mache Trump head in Los Angeles and started fires in Oakland intersections.
Later, several hundred people blocked one of L-A's busiest freeways linking the downtown and Hollywood.
The scene was similar at protest rallies in New York, Boston, Chicago and Kansas City.
Meantime, president-elect Trump and his senior team have begun the task of picking a cabinet and tapping hundreds of appointees to senior roles in key departments such as State, Defence, Homeland Security, and Treasury.
Trump will head to the White House today to get help from President Barack Obama in making the transition, while his wife, Melania, will get together with first lady Michelle Obama in the White House residence.
