Three manufacturing companies in Niagara, which are getting ready to expand, are getting some help from the provincial government.
The Ontario government announcing that it will give the companies $6M to boost local manufacturing and create 46 new jobs.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff made the announcement at Stanpac in Smithville today saying the government will be giving the business $3M.
Stanpac is investing over $35 million in advanced equipment, robotics and upgrades to increase efficiency of its facility which will create an additional 30 jobs.
AMSI in Beamsville, which designs and constructs prefabricated buildings, is investing about $20 million to construct a new 67,000 square-foot manufacturing facility.
That project will be supported by $2.1M in provincial funding with hopes of creating nine jobs.
St. David's Cold Storage in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a company that provides cold, freezer storage solutions to food and beverage manufacturers, is investing $9M to expand its facility and double its refrigerated storage space.
It is being supported by over $1.3 million in funding creating seven new jobs for recent graduates.
"Niagara is home to a robust manufacturing community, and thanks to their continued growth and investment, we can be confident that our targeted approach to fostering stability and growth across our economy is working," said the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
"Niagara has long been a manufacturing powerhouse, employing tens of thousands of people in the automotive, paper, steel, hydroelectric and food processing sectors," said MPP Sam Oosterhoff.
"Our government is continuing to support this manufacturing legacy with strategic investments through the Regional Development Program, ensuring Niagara remains a top destination for jobs and talent well into the future."
The $6M in government funding is coming from the Regional Development Program.
