The fight between the parent company of Tim Hortons and its franchisees is heating up.
According to media reports, Tim Hortons has seized restaurants owned by the president of the Great White North Franchisee Association which has been at odds with Restaurant Brands International since it bought the chain.
David Hughes is accused of leaking confidential information to the media which the restaurant chain argues is a breach of contract.
Hughes denies the accusation and says he was not behind a recent media report alleging coffee pots used in Timmy's have been shattering and injuring employees.
Hughes will have to step down as president of the association because he no longer owns a Tim Horton's eatery.
