For the first time ever, Canada will be taking part today in World Radio Day.
The day was declared by the UN in 2011 in an effort to raise greater awareness about the importance of radio and to ensure there continues to be wide access to public information through the medium.
February 13th was chosen as World Radio Day because it was the day United Nations radio was established in 1946.
Over 600 radio stations in Canada alone, including our sister station 105.7 EZ Rock and brother station 97.7 HTZ FM, will air a 60 second spot today at 8:22 am celebrating the medium that connects us and brings us together.
