IceDogs first year forward Philip Tomasino has been selected to represent Canada at the World Under 17 Challenge in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John B.C. A total of 66 CHL players will be divided into three teams wearing Canada's colours from November 5-11.
Tomasino has counted 4 points in his rookie season for the IceDogs and will be one of 23 OHL players taking part in the event. Three Canadian teams will face Russia, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and the U.S. in this 2017 tournament.
The list of NHL first overall picks who have taken part the challenge include: Rick Nash, 2002; Marc-André Fleury, 2003; John Tavares, 2009; Taylor Hall, 2010, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, 2011; Nathan MacKinnon, 2013; Aaron Ekblad, 2014 and Connor McDavid, 2015.
