In the debate over whether it's ``ah-ven-OO''' or ``ah-ven-YEW','' Toronto's transit agency has decided to call the whole thing off.
The T-T-C rolled out an update in June that it hoped would ``Canadian-ize'' the pronunciation of its digital announcer.
But the change from a more American ``ah-ven-OO''' to the local ``ah-ven-YEW''' wasn't so simple, and commuters were treated to an entirely different version -- ``ah-VEE'-new.''
A spokesman says that rather than put in the time and money to correct it, the T-T-C will simply revert back to the American ``ah-ven-OO'.''
