Toronto city council is turning to the federal and provincial governments to try to combat the gun problem within the city.
Council voted 41-4 to ask Ottawa to ban the sale of handguns within the city limits following Sunday's shooting deaths of 18 year old Reese Fallon and 10 year old Julianna Kozis.
Council will also be asking the Ontario government to outlaw the sale of handgun ammunition within Toronto.
Officials have been struggling with gun violence in the city this year; so far 29 of the city's homicides are considered gun deaths.
