Every legal avenue will be discussed today during an emergency session of Toronto city council today, to try and figure out a way around the reintroduction of a bill by the province that will once again cut council nearly in half.
Yesterday, the Ford government reintroduced the bill and invoked the not withstanding clause to override a court decision earlier this week that found cutting council in the middle of an election campaign was a violation of freedom of expression
The opposition NDP did all it could to stall reading of the bill including pounding on desks.
They were eventually escorted out along with protestors who had packed the public gallery.
Despite Premier Ford allowing a free vote on the bill, no members of the Tory caucus broke ranks and voted against it.
