Toronto's police chief says he's aware of concerns in the community after a woman fell to her death from a 24th floor balcony while police were in her apartment.
Ontario's police watchdog is investigating the incident and say it's aware of allegations made by family members of the deceased, but did not go into detail.
The Special Investigations Unit says police went inside the apartment Wednesday afternoon after receiving a call for a domestic complaint and noticed the woman on the balcony.
The SIU says the woman fell from the balcony a short time later and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Chief Mark Saunders and the SIU are urging any witnesses to come forward.
Both police and the SIU say they cannot comment further while the investigation is active.
