We could find out today if Premier Doug Ford will move Niagara, Hamilton and the rest of the GTA into stage three of the province's recovery plan this week.
However, before that happens Toronto Mayor John Tory wants some changes made to stage 3.
Tory wants a new rule for Toronto restricting dining patrons from getting up out of the chairs except for arriving, leaving the premises, paying or going to and from the bathroom.
He also wants masks mandated for indoor restaurants.
On Friday, the Ontario Medical Association asked the government to rethink allowing indoor bars - opening as part of Stage 3, citing spikes in the number of novel coronavirus cases in other jurisdictions.
The OMA, who represents more than 43,000 physicians and medical students, argues that “reopening is not an all or nothing situation” and that in places like the United States, Spain and England, the reopening of indoor bars have led to outbreaks of COVID-19.
Doug Ford is expected to announce a plan this afternoon at a news conference at 1 p.m. for moving the rest of the province into stage 3.
