As more cities consider cancelling Santa Claus parades, Toronto is stepping up to keep the magic alive.
The Toronto Santa Claus parade, which bills itself as the 'Original Santa Claus Parade' after starting in 1905, will be happening in a new way.
Instead of crowds lining the streets, the parade will be broadcast-only.
The two hour parade will be broadcast nationwide on CTV on Saturday December 5th at 7 p.m. and feature musical guests and celebrity appearances.
The whole thing will be staged on a closed parade route and adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols.
In-person parades have already been cancelled in Brantford, Kingston, and Sudbury.
