Toronto police say they have yet to identify a suspect in the case of an elderly woman who lost about $600,000 in a so-called ``lottery sweepstakes scam.''
Investigators say the 85-year-old woman, who has diminished mental capacity, was told she'd won a substantial amount of money and only needed to pay the taxes and other ``recovery costs.''
Police believe she ended up selling her $2.6-million home in order to come up with the money.
Investigators allege the scammer disbursed about $600,000 of the woman's savings to accounts in Ontario and across the world before the woman's friends became aware of the situation.
Police say more than $400,000 has since been recovered, but they believe the scammers are operating from outside the country.
