Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressin the SNC-Lavalin controversy this morning.
Trudeau never apologised about the governments handling of the situation with former minister of justic Jody Wilson-Raybould. He instead talked about an "erosion of trust" that he should have been aware of between his office and Wilson-Raybould, "There was an erosion of trust, a lack of communication to me and to my office about her state of mind on this, and that is certainly something that I'm having to reflect on as a leader and I look forward to improving on as we move forward."
Wilson-Raybould told a justice committee that she was improperly pressured to stop a criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin.
Trudeau said there is no reason for people to lose faith in the system, "I can repeat and reassure Canadians there was no breakdown of our systems, of our rule of law."
St. Catharines MP, Chris Bittle, says there is no talk of replacing Trudeau as leader, "not within my circles and the MP's that I know there is no question of that and I fully stand behind the Prime Minister. He has brought us this far and we have a great record and I am looking forward to running on that in October."
