The FBI will be delving deeper into the past of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Yesterday, protesters gathered as Republicans continued to try and rush through a confirmation for Kavanaugh despite allegations of sexual assault.
US President Donald Trump has now authorized a further investigation, tweeting "Just started, tonight, our 7th FBI investigation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. He will someday be recognized as a truly great Justice of The United States Supreme Court!"
Arizona Senator Jeff Flake is getting a lot of credit for the change after two women shared their stories of sexual assault with him. Reportedly, a short time later he said he wouldn't vote for the confirmation without the FBI's involvement.
This now means voting will be delayed for a week and the judge's confirmation is now uncertain.
This all follows the emotional testimony from Christine Blasey Ford who is accusing Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were teens. During his testimony, Kavanaugh passionately denied all accusations against him.
