U-S President Donald Trump is poised to release a list of what he wants changed in NAFTA -- and that list could come as early as tomorrow.
American law requires that the administration publish a list of its objectives entering trade negotiations.
The reason this could happen any day is because the administration hopes to start negotiations around August 16th and the law requires the list to be posted online 30 days in advance.
Expect the Canadian government to say little in response to the list.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said he can't imagine that Canada would start negotiating before the trade talks actually start.
Welles Orr -- a veteran of U-S trade negotiations -- says he expects the new NAFTA will contain modern chapters on digital commerce, changes to auto-parts import rules, and a bruising fight over dairy.
Orr predicts dairy will be the last issue to get resolved, but he expects a deal by December.
