A Zehrs employee at the Fairview Mall on Geneva Street in St. Catharines has tested positive for COVID-19.
Public Health says the employee is a personal shopper who may have assembled grocery orders on dates between May 24th and June 5th.
In a letter to Zehrs shoppers, Public Health says research is showing COVID-19 is less commonly transmitted through shared contact with an object like groceries or grocery bags but confirms it is still possible and they're asking those that ordered groceries on the specified dates to monitor themelves for symptoms and get tested if they develop any.
The Real Canadian Superstore in Grimsby was also temporarily closed after an employee tested postive for COVID-19.
According to a statement from the store the Grimsby employee last worked on June 3rd.
Both stores were expected to reopen today.
The dates the Zehrs employee assembled groceries were May 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 31 and June 1, 4, 5.
