Two provincial Liberals are to appear in a Sudbury court later this month after being charged with bribery under the Election Act.
Pat Sorbara -- who was the premier's deputy chief of staff before becoming party C-E-O and 2018 campaign director -- is charged with two counts of bribery while Liberal operative Gerry Lougheed faces one count.
The charges laid by the O-P-P stem from allegations that Sorbara and Lougheed offered a would-be candidate a job or appointment so he'd step aside in a 2015 byelection in Sudbury.
Premier Kathleen Wynne said earlier today that Sorbara would step aside as party C-E-O and campaign director once charged.
