Hundreds of Niagara workers in the auto manufacturing sector will not be going in to work today.
Union members at Ingersoll's CAMI plant are back on the picket lines today, fighting for job security after production of the GMC Terrain moved to Mexico early this year.
Ripples of the strike are reaching Niagara as 255 workers at the Glendale Plant have been temporarily laid off. The Glendale plant supplies CAMI with transmissions used in the Equinox.
Parts manufacturer Spencer ARL in Niagara Falls will also be idle today, impacting another 180 people.
Despite the temporary layoffs at the Glendale plant, local union representatives for Unifor Local 199 say they stand strong with Ingersoll's union.
Vice President for Unifor Local 88 in Ingersoll, Brent Tree, says the support can be felt on the front lines.
Last night, the Ingersoll Union's Master Bargaining Committee gave an update on the talks - via a release President Dan Borthwick says they have met with the company and delivered a comprehensive package.
The release goes on to say the Master Bargaining Committee, and Unifor National Representatives, are available to meet at a moments notice.
Borthwick says the ball is now in the company's court.
