A sudden blast of winter weather yesterday in Buffalo being blamed for a massive pileup on the thruway heading to the airport.
Up to 25 vehicles were involved in the pileup on the I-90 that claimed the life of one person and critically injured another.
A fire official says at one point there were between 60 and 75 vehicles that had been forced off the road, as drivers attempted to avoid the pileup that happened in near whiteout conditions.
Over a dozen fire companies from the surrounding suburbs were called in to help rescue stranded motorists and clear the mess.
